Give copSSH a try; it is packaged nicely and runs well on 2003 Server.

Subject: OpenSSH on Win 2003

Hello,

Hopefully this question is applicable to this mailing list... I apologize in advance if it is not.

I am trying to get Openssh for Windows installed on a Windows 2003 Server. I downloaded the OpenSSH for windows executable from http://sourceforge.net/projects/sshwindows/. Does anyone know if there is a later version for Windows or is this the correct one I should use?

I tried installing this one and setting the group and passwd files, however, whenever I try to manually start the OpenSSHd service I get:

A system error has occurred.

System error 1067 has occurred.

The process terminated unexpectedly.

There is nothing in the OpenSSHd.log file when I open it up. In the event viewer this isn't much for help there either. It only says"The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( OpenSSHd ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: OpenSSHd : PID 1688 : starting service `' failed: redirect_fd: open (1, /var/log/OpenSSHd.log): 13, Permission denied."

I was thinking that maybe it meant cause it can't open the OpenSSHd.log, but I am unable to even change the permissions on that file. I can change them on the "log" directory that the file is contained in, however, I cannot change them on that file.

Does anyone have any suggestions or run into this during their installation??

Thanks and again I apologize if this isn't the correct place to post this message.

Andrew
