Subject: Any cygwin builds with the HPN-SSH patch?
Slashdot just ratcheted up the visibility of the HPN-SSH patch which is
sorely needed as SCP/SFTP on WIndows using the SSHWindows port is REALLY
slow-- a 1G file transfer over a 1G network using FTP is taking about 1:12
and an SFTP of same is taking 12:35, and SCP 10:50. We can't use it as is,
we're trying to do the ETL for a data warehouse product that is taking most
of the night as it is, and multiplying the transfer time x10 to go from FTP
to SFTP just won't cut it. I spotted some sites with info on using an ssh
tunnel with netcat for transfers so that I can try blowfish or AES to
squeeze a little more out of it, but I have a feeling it won't be enough.
Any chance anyone is working on a build of SSHWindows that includes the
HPN-SSH patch? http://www.psc.edu/networking/projects/hpn-ssh/

The SSHWindows packaging is real convenient, but since the last news on it
is from 2004 it's looking kinda dead...
