Changes:
COPSSH - A yet another SSH Server & Client for Windows
Version 1.4.0 - October 2006
CHANGES FROM VERSION 1.3.10
1. UPDATED - OpenSSH 4.4p1
See http://www.openssh.org/txt/release-4.4 for more information.
Some security vulnerabilities are fixed. Upgrade is highly
recommended.
2. UPDATED - OpenSSL 0.9.8d
See http://www.openssl.org/news/ for more information.
Some security vulnerabilities are fixed. Upgrade is highly
recommended.
3. NEW - copSSH administration tool version 1.0
Copsshadm is a new tool for automation of copssh tasks.
This initial version supports various setup operations
and following user operations:
- Batch mode user activation and deactivation
- Reset permissions of the installation directory
4. NEW - use NONTSEC in CYGWIN environment
Earlier versions of copSSH used *NTSEC* for the Cygwin environment.
*NTSEC* instructs Cygwin to manipulate windows ownerships & ACLs
according to corresponding Unix permissions. This behaviour
is not necessarily preferable if keeping security information intact
is a issue. As of this version, copSSH uses *NONTSEC*, assuring that
no security information will be manipulated beyond users' knowledge.
5. NEW - GUI Wizards for user activation and deactivation
User Activation Wizard gives you a list of deactivated local users
for selection. You can also select:
- a shell: /bin/bash, /bin/sftponly, /bin/false or specify your own
- if an existing copssh home directory will be removed
- if keys for public key authentication will be created
- if a link to user's windows home directory will be created
It is also possible to enter user name directly.
User Deactivation Wizard gives you a list of activated users
for selection.
All those functionality is also available in batch mode via
copsshadm.
6. UPDATED - Improved support for localized windows versions
7. UPDATED - Improved support for setup roll-back
8. UPDATED - Cygwin 1.5.21-2
9. UPDATED - OpenSSL 0.9.8b-1
10. UPDATED - Improved WinSCP support
copSSH contains all tools required for a full proper operation of
WinSCP.
11. UPDATED - Improved SFTP support
You can activate sftp users with /bin/sftponly shell, limiting their
access. NB! sftponly is a simple shell script and can be vulnerable.
Coming Openssh version 4.4 will have functionality dealing with limiting
shells.
By using NTSEC, no security information is manipulated beyond users'
knowledge.
12. UPDATED - Improved support for Domain Users
13. UPDATED - GNU Tools
