I cannot devote much time on the security aspects owing to the time
constraints. Looks like I'll have to deploy the solution _without_
any kind of secure tunneling and let the management know. I don't
have internet access on my network and I'll take care of the security
aspects administratively. All along, I'll continue to work on the
security features that I want in my application and deploy the same
later.

Alan, when I get positive results from recompiling MySQL-5.0.22 (or
5.0.24) on Windows, I''ll certainly let you know about it. As Armand
has said earlier on this thread, it looks like I'll have to recompile
MySQL-5.0.22 (or 5.0.24) from source. Armand, thanks for your advice.
 But I am thinking about the kind of time I have spent on recompiling
Linux apps - finding out about dependencies, downloading them,
communicating with the mailing lists, y'know ... I remember, that
compiling one Linux application (which is _really_ good!), after
spending toooo much time resolving and downloading the dependencies
took at least 45 minutes. I don't know how much time MySQL-5.0.2x is
going to take.
