It sounds like you are attempting transverse a corporate proxy/firewall. I
would verify that your actions are within the corporate policy before going
forward. Typically such connections are specifically barred as they bring
up security issues among many other issues. Your violating this can result
in termination.

That said you may find a much easier solution should you speak with the IT
department. Or..

I found several products for a client a while back that may be of
assistance. My notes said that "http tunnel" on a google search returned
several possible solutions.
