Also helpful are File Monitor and Registry Monitor. File Monitor will help
show what files are being loaded, accessed, etc. by a program. They can be
found at the same site (sysinternals.com).

The Process Explorer from Sysinternals is similar to this and also quite
useful in tracking down what is using what to do what.

Dependency Walker is awesome for troubleshooting problems like that
because it shows you the full path and version of every DLL loaded.

An slightly out-of-date version is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;256872

You can get the latest version only by downloading the entire PSDK (or
email me for a copy):

The Dependency Walker on the Platform Software Development Kit (SDK)
will display dependencies in a graphical form. In fact, if you use
Depends on a machine where this problem occurs, the missing DLL is
displayed with a red circle, making it easy to determine what the
trouble lies.
You can obtain the Dependency Walker (Depends.exe) from the Platform SDK
CD-ROM that comes with the MSDN. It can also be downloaded from the
following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/platformsdk/setuplauncher.asp

Hello everyone who is tracking this thread. The problem with "missing"
entry point in cygwin1.dll library was caused by the duplicate (but very
old) copy of the DLL installed on our W2K Server machine. It was sitting
in Program Files\Support Tools directory that was also part of the
system path. After I got rid of the duplicate, everything worked as
expected.

My sincerest thanks to all who tried (and did) help me.
