(OT ?) CygWin and 'DEL' key

Hello ,

I have just installed cygwin to have sshd services,
but when i start a cygwin shell, and i type the DEL (CANC) key on my
keyboard , it doesn't DELete the character under the cursor, but i receive
the symbol "~".
What i have to do to make the DEL key to act as it MUST act (delete a
character) ?
